When I started my business in 2009, I thought that as long as i could take some photos my business was going to grow in no time at all. It only took a few months to realize just how naive that thought was. There was a lot more to this photography business than I thought.
Now, eight years later, I still don’t have it all figured out but I sure have learned a lot. I want to share it with you – why? I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did. Make your own instead!
When I started diving in, I found amazing photographers who helped me learn the lessons I needed to learn to grow as an artist and a business owner. They changed my world! Now it’s my turn to give back to an industry I love by helping others.
Welcome to this crazy, busy, amazing industry – I hope you love it as much as I do!
“Rebecca has been a very insightful photography mentor who has helped me to better understand the basics of photography. Her feedback was always very thoughtful and extremely helpful.”

Behind The Shutter Magazine
This is the one site I am always checking out and the magazine I never miss reading the magazine. This is the place to go for education, checking out the monthly classes, and checking the store for new resources, templates, and great in person workshops too.
Check out Behind the Shutter now!
One of my favourite places for online education is CreativeLive. With great classes on business, photography, videography, marketing, crafting and so much more from world renowned instructors you don’t want to miss out on this one.
This two day photography conference is seriously the most amazing conference (in any industry) that I have ever attended. It’s two day of top pro’s sharing everything from posing and lighting to customer service and marketing right into contracts and pricing (plus so much more) in keynotes, smaller seminars, and hands on classes.
The classes though, are just the beginning. Add in the Rent A Human program (last year we had over 250 models on site and excited to work with photographers on a variety of shoots), top notch vendors, the Profoto shooting bay (with pros on hand to help you figure it all out) plus the most amazing, welcoming (and yes a bit nutty) community of photographers who are all there to learn and have fun together.
