At the end of last year, I dove head first into as much photography and business learning as I could find. I became further addicted to CreativeLive, I subscribed to every free webinar and resource I could find from pros like Jasmine Star, Zach & Jody Gray, Sarah Petty & The Joy of Marketing, Sal & Taylor Cincotta, Sue Bryce, and many more! My first step – What do I want my business to look like? So here is the new look of Rebecca Nash Photography.
I began remodeling my business to move into 2013 with the business I want to have. I came to a few big realizations…
1) I placed myself in a middle ground market where I charged what I thought I should, did just what was needed or expected, and tried to fill my calendar (getting frustrated when it wasn’t happening)
2) I sacrificed doing things the way I wanted, the way that inspired creativity and fueled my passion in order to do whatever people asked me to do to keep some money coming in
3) I never set myself up for success
Over the last month I have been participating in an online course with Jasmine Star called “reSTARt”. Jasmine has challenged us to restart our business and set up for success.
I have taken her direction seriously. Starting from the considerations I had already made into my mission, my vision, and my goals, Jasmine has pushed me further to think about the way I present myself and my work, the way I interact with clients, the experience I want my clients to have, and the way I want them to talk about me.
Our first assignments included crafting a set of emails that would outline all the information potential clients would need when inquiring while getting the information I needed to serve them well. By creating the basics of these emails ahead of time I can personalize each email to the inquiry and be sure to showcase 3 key things – Personality, Portfolio, and Promptness in my replies.
The Second Assignment was to narrow down the words we want people to use when they describe or recommend us. What 3 words would we want them to use, how does that represent our brand, and how can we show work & create an experience that upholds those words. I had a much more difficult time with this and came up with six – 3 for my imagery, and 3 for my client experience. See them below
The Third Assignment had the biggest impact on me. She challenged us to create a conversation map which allows us to plan out our consultation conversation to be sure we provide our clients with a positive experience while presenting them with all the information about what we offer in a clear, concise but not overwhelming way. I love how this allows me to convey my enthusiasm while still keeping the consultation on track.
Now Jasmine has given us a new online assignment. She’s sent us on a photography & branding SAFARI! Our job as participants – find, photograph, and collage (or in my case pin) our likes, loves, inspirations and more to help us zone in on our own style. I hope you’ll join me on my journey to creating the photography experience of my dreams to give you the best I have to offer!
