Inspiration Infusion: CreativeLive

It only seemed appropriate on my birthday to share something close to my heart. So here we go... If you know me well you around know this but if not, I have a confession.

Hello my name is Rebecca, and I have an addiction. I'm addicted to photography, business, and creative webinar based training from some of the world's best on CreativeLive.

I don't know how I discovered them, I honestly don't remember, but dozens of courses later I have a full blown addiction. I own some of the courses, I watched tons more live, and now it's my must see. I get up in the morning I check my facebook, I check my blog reader, and then I hop over to see what's on CreativeLive.

CreativeLive has introduced me to some of my new favourite people & sources of inspiration but also helped me learn from and reconnect with some of my old favourites too.

Meet a few of my favourite instructors...

- Sal Cincotta

- Jasmine Star

- Sue Bryce

- Kelly brown

- Zach & Jody Gray

- April Bowles-Olin

- Kari Chapin

- Lara Jade

- Brooke Shaden

- Tara Gentile

- Susan Stripling

- Lori Nordstrom

Why do I love CreativeLive so much?

  • amazing instructors
  • in depth teaching (most courses are 2-3 days but some are 5 full days or a video a day for 30 days!)
  • extra resources (many instructors provide downloads of their slideshows, notes, worksheets and more!)
  • interactive (you can attend classes online while they are live and ask questions of the instructor and your fellow attendees through the chatroom)

Why I'm Building a Blog That is True to Me (part of the "What #BelleLive Taught Me" blog tour)

#BelleLive

Last Month I had the pleasure of being (virtually) attending yet another AMAZING CreativeLive course.

In this course we did not talk about aperture, shutter speed, lighting, or photoshop. Instead, with the help of April Bowles Olin of Blacksburg Belle, we dove head first into our blogs and everything related. (Check out the #BelleLive course 'Build a Successful Creative Blog' on Creative Live right here** - I promise it's worth it!)

Why did I join this course?

I admit, when I first saw April's course on the course calendar, I wasn't interested. I mean, I know how to blog right? And I've never heard of this April chick so, what's the big deal? Then one of my online partners-in-crime, the fabulous Amanda Sue (find her over at http://www.amandasuehowell.com/), started telling me how excited she was. Amanda was a longtime follower of April's whereas I was a dedicated CreativeLive fan (boarding on on Obsessively addicted, but the good kind of obsessively addicted of course). For me, Amanda's endorsement was enough for me to decide to do some online stalking research on this April lady.

Once I started reading April's blog I fell down the rabbit hole. I knew that a) April knew what she was doing, b) I could learn alot to make my blog SOOO much better for all of you, and c) this chick was cool! I mean just start poking around and you'll discover April in a tutu, April playing with a ginormous red balloon, and our mutual love for all things Gilmore! (Don't believe I love Gilmore Girls? Go Read 30 things you never really needed to know about me. No seriously, I'll wait....)

So needless to say after the necessary research I decided I had a lot to learn so I signed up to attend free. I think it took me all of 15mins once I started to watch the livestream to be a little overwhelmed with all the info (and the insane resources April was providing in the workbook for anyone who signed up, and the resource package for those who bought the course). I knew I needed the info so I went over and clicked that buy button. Now safe in the knowledge that I could sit back and enjoy the first time through, and make insane notes that made no sense to anyone but me later, I was good to go!

Since the course ended, I've been taking the time to sit down and work through the videos and workbooks in more manageable chunks. There is so much to learn that I know I will be coming back to this course again and again, but for now, I have to move forward with something April taught me...

What Changes Can you Expect at Rebecca Nash Photography?

Lots!

For one thing, it's time to get back to where I started and where my heart has always been  - Weddings!

I have always been excited (to the point of insanity from my fiance's point of view) about everything to do with weddings. I love hearing a couples stories, following them through the planning process, being part of their day, getting to capture all the details that makes their wedding uniquely theirs, and sharing the moments of their day in art when it's all over.

At the same time, I'm almost obsessive over rings, dresses, decor, invitations, cakes, and more! (Just check out my pinterest boards and you'll see what I mean)

So needless to say you're going to see more real weddings, more stories revisited, more ideas & detail I love, and more of my inspiration for wedding photography showing up on the blog very soon.

You're also going to see more of me.

For the last few years of blogging I've been so concerned with getting posts up and trying to look as professional and proper as possible that so many of my posts have lacked personality. They've lacked heart. They've lacked me!

Thanks to April, I've found my voice again and you'll hear alot more of it in every post from now on!

Behind the Scenes

Whether it's creating new art, redecorating the office, working with clients, or checking out new training. I'm not afraid to pull back the curtain and show you a little more of what's happening at Rebecca Nash Photography every day.

So Here We Go...

A huge, huge, humungous, ginormous thank you goes out to April Bowles Olin and CreativeLive** for bringing us #BelleLive. Thanks to you, I'm excited to blog again and actually have some idea what the heck I'm doing! Thank you both also for supporting this little blog tour sharing all the knowledge we've acquired. You Rock!

Also, much love to my fellow bloggers who have watched the course, are participating in this blog tour, and have been connecting in the Facebook Group. The love, support, and knowledge sharing is amazing! I can't wait to celebrate personal successes for each and every one of you!

May Blog Renewal thanks to #BelleLive

Okay, I know I know...It's Sunday evening so why am I on the blog writing to you? Because I'm excited to share with you. I hope you'll take a moment to read on to this short post and get involved in the conversation!

May is here and while the May flowers the old saying promises may have not arrived yet, the season of renewal has arrived!

Last month, I planted the seeds for something fabulous - An Etsy store that allows me to share my art and make it available to people all over the world!

This month, it's time for renewal. There are certain aspects of my business that need an infusion of energy and vision.

One of those things is right in front of you and I right now, my blog!

When I first began blogging, I was energetic and enthusiastic about it and each and every post just radiated with that passion. As time went on, I let the blog take a back seat.

This month I've started the journey to creating the blog that you as my fabulous readers deserve by diving into a course on my favourite online learning site, CreativeLive.

I spent 3 full days with the fabulous April of Blacksburg Belle virtually in her Build a Successful Creative Blog course learning to love my blog again, write what matters, and connect with my community!

I'm so excited to review this workshop, do the homework, and make changes. The changes may start slow and small (I've already made some, can you see them?) but I promise you, by the end of this month I will present you with a refreshed version of the Rebecca Nash Photography that will become the resource and community I dream of sharing with each and every one of you!

Want to have a say in the changes? Tell me in the comments below all about your favourite parts of the blog and the things that you'd love to see me lose. Got a big idea? Throw it out there, I might just fall in love with it.

Inspiration Infusion: Jasmine Star

Today I'm thrilled to feature a photographer who I have followed for many years, Jasmine Star! Jasmine is an insanely beautiful photographer, a hugely down to earth woman, and a little quirky to boot! (Any wonder why I like her so much?)

One of my favourite quotes from one of Jasmine's Creative Live workshops can often be heard coming out of my own mouth. Does this sound familiar at all?

"I don't talk fast, you just listen slow" - J*

I have followed her blog, watched her workshops, bought her magazine, emailed with her, and just generally online stalked her in the best possible way (ie. not the creepy way). This woman makes me believe in myself, in my passion as a photographer, and that my love of helping people and genuine excitement of their special moments will allow me to create the life I want for myself!

Some may know that J* has come under some criticism in 2013 but I admire the way she stepped up, took ownership, apologized and moved on in the most professional way possible. Talk about character!

Jasmine shares her fresh fun photography in an editorial style both in the way she shoots her clients but also in the way she promotes herself online and off. She is totally the kind of girl you could see being your neighbour. I just know she'd be the type you'd love to hate (I mean smart, funny, successful, beautiful, and talent...) but she's just so awesome you can't.

Check out Jasmine Star and all her work online!
