Playing with new styles...

This year I am working to take better care of myself. I am working with a personal trainer on my fitness and nutrition to be healthier. I am taking time every weekend to do what I need to do to replenish myself. It looks a little different each week. One week it might be reading a book. Another week might be a long walk. It might be a movie marathon and face mask. It might be meditation and a long bath. No matter what though, it's about taking to do something that is just for me.

So last weekend, as part of my weekly self-care time, I decided it was time to try out a new style beyond my go-to's of buns, ponytails and braids. I have been getting so much inspiration from the amazing women around me and the women who step in front of my camera. (I'm also one of those women who feels the most beautiful and fiercest right after getting my hair done.)

A bit before this, my friend and mentor Jennifer Rozenbaum did a video on how she does her hair everyday (I love her long loose curls/waves) so I decided to try it out.   I even took some photos.

I used this curling wand (because it was what I already had). You can get it on amazon it's the InfinitiPro by Conair CD117 YOU Curl Conical Curling Wand(*Affiliate Link*). It was easy to work with (and came with a protective glove for people like me that always end up burning themselves).   I was good to go while working on the left hand side of my head but it got tricky on the right when I needed to work essentially backwards.    I was pretty happy with the result though in the future I would like to use a bigger barrel for a bigger looser curl.

In Jen's Video ( you can find it on Jen's Youtube), she uses an automatic curler which made her's faster and easier. She used the Kiss automatic curler (Kiss Products Instawave Automatic Hair Curler*Affiliate Link*) and I just ordered one for myself.

Winter Woodland Bridal Shoot

With March Break upon us, and Wedding Season almost upon us I was eager to get out shooting. Enter the creative Bridal Portrait Session. First off, a huge thank you goes out to the amazing team of wedding pros I was working with here in London, Ontario.

The Inspiration

When visiting a local park, I witnessed people feeding the chickadees right out of their hands! I knew I wanted to work on a few styled wedding inspiration shoots and bridal portrait sessions (plus I'm a fairytale fan) so, when I saw people feeding the birds a light bulb went off - I want to do a Snow White inspired bridal portrait session!

The Reality

I had a beautiful model, a flowing dress that fit her perfectly, a mini bridal cape, a talented HMUA, floral crowns, and a beautiful location. Now we were counting on the birds to do their part. And they did, at least for a few minutes.

The Artwork

I'm thrilled to share with you today a few of my favourite images from our session.

Wedding Wednesday: Hair Style of the Month

OMG I'm in love! I saw this hairstyle and just knew I needed to post it right away.
The hair is swept up off the face opening the face, showcasing any jewellery you may be wear, or details on the top of the wedding gown. The way the hair is swept up in multiple sections and pinned with some volume creates shape and texture and keeps the updo from looking to severe.
The curls are beautifully done, pinned in place tapering down to the long piece extending down your back (or in the case of the image over your shoulder).
Here I've paired the hair style with a hairband with a darker detail so it accents but doesn't distract from the beautiful style. Depending on your style, a small tiara, a jeweled headband, or some embellished hair pins would also be great additions.
I love the beauty, romance, and texture of this look. It can be paired with any style from a full ball gown to a slim fit and flare silhouette and still look amazing.

Style Me Mondays: Wavy Curls

Just a quick post today showcasing one of my favorite ways to wear your hair for fall.
Don't get me wrong, I love the sleek & straight locks which is often my go to look, however; I love the look of the long loose waves and curls. This look is just perfect for fall and into the winter weather with great texture.
Check out these examples in the colours of fall...
