I am Grateful

I am grateful....- for family and friends new and old who love and support me everyday - for a safe, loving home to raise my beautiful daughter - for the realization that in everything I do I have a choice in at least my point of view if nothing else - for bike rides, long walks, sweaty kettle-bell sessions and the amazing feeling of health and vitality I feel - for nutritious local foods to create dishes big and small to enjoy with those I care about - for the art of photography that ignites my passion - for weddings that turn me to the little girl dreaming of tulle, diamonds, and happily ever after

- for couples that share with me their memories, their lives, their special moments, and their love stories

- for families that call me to help them celebrate their pregnancies, new babies, and lives year after year

- for a world of beauty all around me to inspire me - for the opportunities to grow my business by sharing it everyday through my art and my services - for the recognition of the impact my own words and actions have on little eyes (and big ones too) around me everyday - for teachers and resources who are everyday pouring more and more information, knowledge and encouragement into others to help them achieve success - for a desire to learn and an ability to gather (devour) knowledge - for the freedom and knowledge that I can define my own life through the choices I make, the work I'm willing to put in, and the belief I have in myself, my value, and my dreams!

I am grateful everyday for things big and small.

What are you grateful for? Tell me about it in the comments below!

May Blog Renewal thanks to #BelleLive

Okay, I know I know...It's Sunday evening so why am I on the blog writing to you? Because I'm excited to share with you. I hope you'll take a moment to read on to this short post and get involved in the conversation!

May is here and while the May flowers the old saying promises may have not arrived yet, the season of renewal has arrived!

Last month, I planted the seeds for something fabulous - An Etsy store that allows me to share my art and make it available to people all over the world!

This month, it's time for renewal. There are certain aspects of my business that need an infusion of energy and vision.

One of those things is right in front of you and I right now, my blog!

When I first began blogging, I was energetic and enthusiastic about it and each and every post just radiated with that passion. As time went on, I let the blog take a back seat.

This month I've started the journey to creating the blog that you as my fabulous readers deserve by diving into a course on my favourite online learning site, CreativeLive.

I spent 3 full days with the fabulous April of Blacksburg Belle virtually in her Build a Successful Creative Blog course learning to love my blog again, write what matters, and connect with my community!

I'm so excited to review this workshop, do the homework, and make changes. The changes may start slow and small (I've already made some, can you see them?) but I promise you, by the end of this month I will present you with a refreshed version of the Rebecca Nash Photography that will become the resource and community I dream of sharing with each and every one of you!

Want to have a say in the changes? Tell me in the comments below all about your favourite parts of the blog and the things that you'd love to see me lose. Got a big idea? Throw it out there, I might just fall in love with it.

Announcing...My engagement

Hello to all my friends out there! I apologize for my absence over the holidays this year. I hope this season has found you blessed with love.

After weeks of trying to contact friends and family to share the news with them personally and taking some time to enjoy this time I'm thrilled to share with you my big news.

On Friday Dec 20th at my favourite restaurant, Garlics of London, my amazing boyfriend of 4.5yrs asked me to marry him!

Was I surprised? Absolutely! Was I thrilled? Absolutely! Was he smart enough to have a photographer on hand for this? Absolutely!

Now, a little over a week later, I'm deep into the wedding planning phase because a) it's so much fun and I'm excited! and b) I return to work this weekend with the London Bridal Expo and it only gets busier from there.

As you might expect, more wedding inspiration and resources will be pouring into the blog as I discover them in my own engagement and wedding planning journey. I hope you find them interesting. Have resources to share? Add them to the comments below or email them to rebecca@rebeccanashphotography.com

For now enjoy these snaps from my dear friend Rob Cousins who was there to capture this special moment.

Run Day with the London Lady's 5K

It's race day...and I'm a complete ball of nerves!

This is my first time participating in a run since those days of track and field back in elementary school (and even then the 200m was the longest I'd run!).

Today, I'm proud to stand on the start line at 8:30am with a collection of amazing women walking and running for their own health and to support Itsy (supporting families with children in the NCIU here in London).

Even more so, I'm proud to have my parents, spouse, and especially my young daughter waiting to watch me cross that finish line and celebrate this new accomplishment in my journey to good health, and to being a role model for my beautiful daughter!

Join Me in my journey to the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

A few weeks ago I spoke in a personal post about my goals to be the best possible version of myself for my daughter, my family, my clients, and myself. Today, I'm thrilled to share with you the next step on my journey.

About two weeks ago I was out picking up a coffee (ok a hot chocolate with whipped cream - yum!) when I saw a flyer for the 2014 Embridge Ride to Conquer Cancer. After taking a look over it I went wow...a 200+Km bike ride? That's really cool but I could never do it.

As disappointing as that initial reaction was, it didn't last long. By the time I reached work a new conversation was going on in my head....

Maybe I could do it...

...would my bike make it through?

Would I make it through?

How would I train for this event?

Do I have enough time?

Somewhere in this conversation I came to the simple conclusion...

I have months to train

I'm strong, healthy, and rather stubborn

I will find a way to get a new bike

And I am going to do this!

To me this event is about so many different things. It's about being the best possible me. It's about setting an example for my daughter. It's about challenging myself to do something that I never would have believe I could or would do if you had asked me even a few months ago.

It's also about supporting an amazing Ontario based charity event that sets goals high for it's participants to make their goal of conquering cancer in our lifetime a reality! I've set my goals high...

1)I will complete this event and possibly the added afterburner challenge of an additional 50Km in Hamilton once we reach camp.

2)I will raise $4,500 or more for this awesome event

3)I will involve my family, my students, and my community in the journey whenever I can

From now until the ride (June 7th & 8th) I'm excited to begin training, sharing frequent updates on my personal ride page (http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/RebeccaNash), and monthly updates here on the whole journey. Join me, your thoughts, advice, and encouragement always pushes me onward!

Find out more about the ride and how you can get involved with donating or register to ride with me on my personal fundraising page http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/RebeccaNash
