Style Me Monday: Looking Hot While Getting Sexy

Looking Hot While Getting Sexy

This week's style inspiration comes from my recent trip to Lululemon with my good friend Michelle.
I have been working this year to get myself looking & feeling good inside and out. I've cleaned up my eating, been hitting the gym regularly, sleeping more at night, and taking care of myself.
My usual gym wear consists of oversized tees or basic ribbed tanks, with stretchy pants or short. This year I got to add the awesome skirt pictured before (and a fun hairband) to my workout wear wardrobe. I was super thrilled with the fabrics, the fit, the styles but two things that stood out:
  1. They have all lengths! Hallelujah!
  2. When they add grip to something (like the grip on the legs of the shorts under that skirt so they don't ride up or the little grip dots inside my new hairband) the grip is made of silicone and there's no latex in sight (I'm allergic).

Now I'm setting goals for myself then rewarding myself with a fantastic workout wardrobe!

What do you wear to workout?

Style Me Monday: Accessories Love!

Okay, anybody else a massive accessories junkie?

I love accessories more than I can say. Shoes, Scarves, Hats, Jewellery, Bags and more!

This year I've done a whole lot of paring back in my wardrobe and accessories banishing the old, worn out, too big, too small, and the stuff I just plain don't wear. Now looking at it there are some key things missing - colour & personality.

I've been holding off buying clothes til I lose more weight, or decide on my style, or find out if I got the job....

Sound familiar? One place where you can start to spice it up - Accessories!

These items are high on my wish list:

1) A beautiful silver necklace inspired by skeleton keys that spells out "LOVE"

2) This beautiful light teal/seafoam colour school boy bag! It's got colour and structure that add some character to even simple jeans and tees.

Style Me Monday: Spring Skirts

Spring has sprung and it's finally starting to feel like it! This last weekend got me thinking about pulling out the skirts to celebrate the rising temperatures!
This week I pulled together a few of my favorite styles.
When I cracked open the closet and peered inside...
Where were my cute skirts? Where was the fun and polish?
Oh Right...at this time last year I was ill, and 15lbs heavier.
I used that as an excuse not to buy or wear anything that attracted attention or showed my body.
Now it's time for a change...
Am I at my goal weight? No!
Is that going to stop me from being fabulous? No!
Today I've rounded up 4 of the top styles on my wishlist this year
1.) Classic ALine Skirt in Black, Navy, or Charcoal
2.) A Colourful, Textured, or Printed Pencil Skirt
3.) A Skirt with Youthful flare like this sequin number
4.) A Classic Pencil Skirt with a twist - Bandage Layers, Unique accents
This are now on my shopping list. (I'm keeping my eye's out for a number of items for my wardrobe this spring...)
What's your favourite spring skirt style?

Style Me Monday: Nautical Inspiration

Nautical Inspiration

What Style Trend are you trying out this Spring?
I fully admit, I'm not always up on (or supportive of) the biggest trends in fashion, but, one style inspiration that always looks gorgeous to me is the nautical stripe.
The nautical stripe can be casual or dressy but always comes off classy.
My question is, with something so versatile and classic...why have I never in my adult life owned a nautical stripe?
I think the time has come to add this staple to my wardrobe. My next challenge...finding the perfect piece and fit!
What classic staples are you missing from your wardrobe and why? Tell me about it in the comments below!

Renovation & Renewal: Month Two - Home

It's month two and more changes are coming!

This month I'm still looking at the Studio Space. I spend a fair bit of time in my office and studio, as do my clients, so it's important to me that it gives a great impression.

This week I've been traveling and had the opportunity to get into new surroundings (and stores) for added inspiration. This inspiration has lead to new ideas of what I want my studio to be.

Now here are the changes I can't wait to start making to The Home Studio: - Remove the Dark Green Carpet and Replace with a light toned laminate or hardwood flooring - Paint! The black walls help to prevent extra light bouncing around but it's so dark! I'm looking at going to a light grey to lighten it up (if I start adding too much colour it does funny things to peoples skin tones) - New couch or slipcover - looking at a nice ivory or linen colour. Something light and neutral - Bright textured/patterned throw pillows on the couch (pillows say polish, fun, and comfort to me) - Replace the wood table with a nice glass coffee table for extra lightness - Get some framed work, an Uppercase living quote, and decorative pieces up on the walls - Pick up some small decor items to add life to the space - And so much more!

And what wishlist would be complete without outlining the someday dream. Here's Mine!

The Dream Studio: - Large exhibition space to showcase my own work but also other local artists & photographers - Office space with printing, framing, and work spaces as well as a reading corner - Dressing Room & Bathroom for clients (think old hollywood style - Vanities, couches, Clothing Racks, etc - Large Studio with Large Windows for Natural Light work (and a way to block the light too when needed) plus prop storage space (maybe a separate room) - Lounge area (couches, coffee tables, comfy chairs, table & chairs set etc) for consultations & ordering sessions. - Glass walls for a more open and bright feel

Do you have a room like this in your house? A room that you have you wishlist for now but your dream list for someday? Tell me all about it in the comments below!

Wedding Wednesday: Keep the Love Alive

Keep the love alive

Okay, I know technically I'm on vacation this week and not supposed to be writing but I just had to share this.
I found it on pinterest a few weeks ago and loved it! The idea is at you bridal/wedding shower, stag and doe, or even the wedding itself you set out a can or notebook and ask guests to put down some date ideas. It can be hard during the planning stages and in the year that follows the wedding to take the time to make dates with each other but this time together is oh so important to your relationship. This gives you a great resource of ideas big and small for whenever you can find a little time to spend together.
Hope you love iYours Enthusiastically Rebecca - Rebecca Nash Photographyt!

Style Me Monday: Spring Classics Accessories

As I was preparing for my vacation and the first day of spring was approaching, it was time to pick up some classic warm weather essentials for my vacation style. To me, the reappearence of these things just screams warm weather and sunshine.

Wedding Wednesday: This Year's Colour

As you probably know, this years fashion colour of the year is Emerald. It's popping up everywhere!
My question is, will you be incorporating it into your 2013 wedding day?
Here are a few of my favourite ways to add a splash of this fresh green shade into the day with your bridesmaids dresses (but lets face it, I'd wear this dress anywhere!), a great bag of essentials for you and your girls, or a pretty mani & pedi!
What are your wedding day colours? How are you making them pop?

In a world of practicality and minimalism I happily declare...I am for Romance, for Elegance, for Fantasy & Fairy Tales. I am a hopeless romantic.
This week I wanted to share my vision of Modern Romance, Fantasy, and Elegance. Now I ask, is this your version of Modern Romance? If not, I want to hear about your vision of Modern Romance & Elegance!

Style Me Monday: Photo Shoot Outfits

Along with all the big changes in my business comes the most dreaded part for me...new photos of myself.

The one part I can get excited about is, of course, picking out outfits! So, without further ado....my choices for the new photo wardrobe!

Outfit One: Something comfy, casual but super cute and professional.

Outfit Two: A little more formal but still me! I love that it's still stylish, comfortable, professional but has a little personality built it too

The Plan - Simple Classic Makeup (cause let's face it, I don't wear alot of makeup to begin with). Two different Hair Do's - The Sock Bun, and Long and Loose. I want to make sure these photos really show me as people can expect me to look when they meet me.

Which is your favourite outfit?

Watch for the unveiling of the photos and you'll have your chance to vote on which image should be my new profile image both online and off!

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Shoes

It's no secret that there are a few things I'm slightly obsessed with, and two top ranking items....Shoes & Weddings! (Just ask my Boyfriend)
So this week for wedding Wednesday I'm bringing this love of weddings and shoes together!
I love all three of these pairs but they are all totally different for three different styles of brides.
The two outside pairs can fit more into a traditional style of wedding while (to me) the centre pair of red high heels scream show stopper!
Which of these pairs would you wear on your big day?

Style Me Monday: New Year's Eve Glam

It's New Year's Eve and the countdown to 2013 has begun - What will you ring in the new year wearing? How will you debut your 2013 style?
This year I'm going simple in well fitted jeans, a coloured tee-shirt, and blazer. Needless to say my evening is spent with family in the comfort of our home. Our family tradition includes a quiet New Years Eve followed by a night of feasting, visiting, and friendly competition on New Years Day.
What would I be wearing if I was going out? Well, you would find me in an outfit something like this one...
I love the colour, texture, and figure flattering draping of the material on this dress. I love that while you could wear it to a formal party, it would be just as at home at any party (great for those hoping from one event to another with varying dress codes). I love sticking with a classic black stain clutch, diamond studs, and nude strappy heels for a dressy but not overdone elegance.
What will you be wearing this New Years Eve? I want to hear about your favourite finds and the occasions you're wearing them for!

My Boxing Day Style Wishlist

It's boxing day - let the craziness begin! As people flock to the stores and the online shopping sites looking for the best deal I'm looking for deals too. The big difference? I go in with a wishlist and a budget.
This year, these are my top wishlist items to add to my wardrobe this year....
1) Great Sweaters
It's winter and I love a great cozy sweater. I can easily live all winter in my hoodies so I have high demands of a sweater - it must be warm, comfy, well fitted, and easy to care for. I mean, I want to look good!
2) Little Black Dress
Who doesn't love a great little black dress. This year I'm looking for something cute but with a touch of elegance and sophistication. I love the one included above - It's a great length, I love the inclusion of the lace on the top half, and I can think of half a dozen or more occasions it's perfect for right off the top of my head. Look for something with an interesting detail instead of the basic black dress.
3) Bright Wrap Dress
What can I say? Wrap dresses are flattering on just about every body type and a bold pop of colour helps to bring the outfit alive. A dress like this purple number is just as at home in the office as it is on a date night or night out on the town.
4) Long A-Line Topper
I love, love, LOVE jackets so they always end up on my wish list. Last year I picked up a great shorter jacket with super wide lapels, this year I'm looking for an elegant longer (knee length) a-line topper (Think Kate Middleton style) for dressier occasions. Anything that keeps me warm and nips in the waist is always a good choice.
5) Teal Blazer
I'm totally crushing on teal and 2013's Pantone Colour of the Year emerald - I know I will be adding these colours to my layering pieces but I'm also on the hunt for a great tailored blazer in a beautiful teal or emerald shade to add some wow factor to work outfits and jeans alike!
6) Long Pencil Skirt
Everyone knows a pencil skirt is flattering on just about anybody but I'm loving the longer style (just below the knee) pencil skirt. I've had a heck of a time finding one in person but if I can score one of these I will be a happy woman.
What items are on your wish list this boxing day? Tell me all about them (and any great deals you score) in the comments below!

Style Me Monday: Shades of Jackets

Wahoo, it's time to talk about jackets again! With winter upon us, I'm as guilty as anyone at letting my style go out the window - I just want to be warm! Does that mean that staying warm can't be stylish? Definitely not, as these jackets show...
I love the variety of jackets available this year. Just by wandering through your local mall you will find a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Now anyone who knows me know, I love me some great colour but, there is a place for some great neutrals in every closet too. When it comes to a real investment piece like an amazing jacket - I'm probably reaching for something neutral...why?
  1. If I'm investing more $$ in it, I want to know it's high quality and going to last!
  2. Neutrals are always in style - get something in a classic flattering fit and spurge on new accessories to stay on trend year to year - think great scarfs, hats, gloves, boots, belts and more!
  3. Neutral colours tend to hold their colour (and are easier to clean) for longer
What's your favourite cold weather style?

Wedding Wednesday: Guest Advice

Planning your wedding day is a big undertaking, but, as my dad would say, it's the first day of the rest of your life!
You've invited your friends and family, they are here to surround you with love and support you on this special day as you make promises to each other for the next stage of your life together - now let them surround you in advice, stories, and support to keep your relationship strong as you move into your life together as husband and wife. Here's a few ideas on how...
Ideas:
1) I have to say I love, love, love these coasters! Scatter them all around your wedding reception for friends and family to fill out through the evening. The quick and easy for anyone to fill out at any point in the evening.
2) Set out a notebook somewhere convenient with a sign asking friends and family to share their stories and advice - Great reading for years to come and a little piece of your family history all in one!
3) Create your own mini notebooks for each table with questions for your guests to answer - ex. favourite place to go out for a romantic dinner, best place for a couples vacation
How do you absorb all the advice your family has to share?
