Run Day with the London Lady's 5K

It's race day...and I'm a complete ball of nerves!

This is my first time participating in a run since those days of track and field back in elementary school (and even then the 200m was the longest I'd run!).

Today, I'm proud to stand on the start line at 8:30am with a collection of amazing women walking and running for their own health and to support Itsy (supporting families with children in the NCIU here in London).

Even more so, I'm proud to have my parents, spouse, and especially my young daughter waiting to watch me cross that finish line and celebrate this new accomplishment in my journey to good health, and to being a role model for my beautiful daughter!

Jillian Michaels "Maximize Your Life" Recap

I had the great pleasure this last Friday, of attending Jillian Michaels "Maxmize Your Life" here in London, Ontario at Budwiser Gardens.

2013-05-17 19.45.15

Was this planned way ahead? No Way!

Did I want to go? Heck Ya!

So how did I get lucky? A friend won two tickets and couldn't get a sitter so she took me instead of her husband!

Rebecca Nash & Debbie Watson at Jillian Michaels "Maximize Your Life" Tour - London, Ontario

Now as soon as I started posting that I was going to be attending, people started asking me to share what I learnt so here we go...

When it comes to Food Labels...Read the ingredients list. The top item has the highest content in the food but, while the top 5 ingredients are the most important, keep reading. You're likely to find multiple different types of sugars listed. Why? The powers that be have allowed different names for sugar (alot less of them in Canada compared to US) but if you added up all the different types of sugars in your food that majority of those foods would have a first ingredient of sugar? Scary thought!

If there's an ingredient you can't pronounce or sounds like it came from chemistry class - don't eat it! It's not real food (exceptions exist such as Quinoa, Kefir, etc...I can't pronounce them right half the time either).

Turn on your BULLCRAP meter...If it sounds too good, It probably is! Learn to see the bullcrap!

"If you have the why, you can tolerate any how!"

Remember this when you build your goals. Make them specific and tie them to the emotion you know it will make you feel. If you can do this, then no matter what sacrifice it takes, you can achieve it!

Be Present in the Now.

Homework - For one week, set an alarm that goes off once and hour on the hour for every waking hour. When that alarm goes off take a moment to stop and ask yourself: 1) What am I doing? 2) How do I feel about it?

Keep track and focus on the things that make you feel fabulous - How do you get more of this?

"Can't be fearless, but you can be without regret"

Just think about that one for a moment.

Considering taking a risk but scared? Look at it like this and learn from it...

1) What's the worse case scenario?

2) What Then?

3) Will it kill you?

4) How is it different from where you are now?

5) What do you have to lose?

6) What if it works?

"Only Hurt People, Hurt People"

So her big question was...."Can you do it? Yes! But will you?"

I would love to hear whether this gave you a moment's pause or an AHA moment....Comment Below please!

Wedding Wednesday: Introducing Bridal Portraits

I cannot tell you how excited I am! It's a new year, and Rebecca Nash Photography is getting a facelift...It's not just the Logo and Website that's being updated...It's everything we do! Over the next month you can expect to see the launch of many new products and services as well as the fading away of others. I can't wait to share this journey with you so today let's talk about the first new service I'm offering in 2013.

I'd like to present to you my new

Bridal Portraits

Are you excited yet? If you're Canadian like me you may think that Bridal Portraits are the portraits you take of the Bride on her wedding day, and in Canada that is what it has been for many years, however, in the USA it means something more.

So what do Bridal Portraits mean to me? Bridal Portraits are a luxurious experience all about celebrating the beauty and emotion of the wedding day before it has begun and without the stressful schedule. This is a day for you (and your groom if you choose) to feel pampered and create images to celebrate all the little details you have put in to looking your best on your wedding day.

I recommend these portraits be done at least a week before your wedding day. Start the day being pampered as you get your hair and makeup done just as you would on your wedding day. Then spend the day in your beautiful gown being photographed for artwork you will cherish.

This day will take you in all your wedding day splendor and offer you an amazing day of glamour and beauty style photography. It's a once in a life time experience to spend the day like a wedding model on a cover shoot.

Can you spare a vote? Intuits Small Business Big Wishes...

This Holiday Season I'm asking you for a gift...A Vote in Intuit's Small Business Big Wishes

This simple gift would mean the world to me and it won't cost you a penny, just a moment of your time.

With the holidays quickly approaching, we're all beginning to look towards next year. The excitement of starting fresh!

The last two years has seen January as a huge event in the life of my business with the London Bridal Expo. This is the time I really get to connect with engaged couples about their wedding day and fill my calendar with events to remember. This year is a little different though...

I have been blessed over the past two years with a supportive spouse who allowed me to follow my passion. Now it's my turn to be supportive. My spouse has received his layoff notice with closure of his place of employment coming this summer. This, coupled with my recent health issues, has lead to some serious belt tightening around here. Unfortunately, one of the things to be tightened is the marketing budget for the business.

Today, I'm asking you to spare a moment of your time to vote for my entry for Intuit Small Business Big Wishes...These votes put me one step closer to having my wish of $5000 for the Bridal Expo and Marketing Materials Granted. By participating I can begin to fill my schedule for 2013 and set up to support my family through this major transition.

I thank you all in advance for your support in this.

In recognition of this support, I want to give back too. If my wish is granted and I am able to exhibit at the London Bridal Expo, I will set up a wish...Each couple or family can enter by telling me what $1000 towards their photography would do for their family and one lucky family will receive a $1000 gift certificate to help them on to the next stage of their life.

Please click here to vote for my wish

I've been nominated for The Liebster Award

What a pleasant surprise - I woke up this morning to discover that I had been nominated by my dear friend Shannon from Sweet Stellas for the Liebster Award. Talk about a great way to start the morning! Thank you to Shannon for thinking of me! What is a Liebster? Well, it's a shout out to blogs with less than 200 public followers. It's a way to support and encourage up and coming bloggers as they grow their following.

The Rules
- Each blogger that is nominated must post 11 things about themselves
- Answer the 11 questions that the blogger who nominated them asked
- Nominated blogger creates 11 new questions to ask the bloggers they nominate
- Choose 100 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate, link them in the post
- Notify the nominees of their award
- No tag backs!

Eleven things about me...

And here are the questions from my nominator Shannon from Sweet Stellas:

1. What is your favourite holiday tradition?

Watching the Disney Santa Claus Parade in our PJ's with a plate of shortbread cookies after opening gifts on Christmas morning. This was how it was when I was little and now I'm passing it on! 2. What is your favourite movie from your childhood?

Haha...My favourite childhood movie was Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts. I know, it's not a kids movie but we watched it every time we stayed over at my Aunt's house for a sleep over and I loved it! 3. Do you have any pets? How many? What are their names?

No pets in the house at the moment 4. Do you consider yourself *green*? What do you do to be eco-friendly?

I don't consider myself green. I wish I did more than I do by my eco-friendly actions end after recycling, composting, buying local when I can, and using all natural cleaners. 5. Do you love your home?

Our home isn't big, it isn't fancy, but it's home and there is a lot of love and memories in there. 6. What is your go-to night-on-the-town outfit?

I so rarely wear dresses in my everyday life that I love to throw on a dress or skirt for a night out. Add on heels, jewellery, and some make up and I'm ready to go! I want to feel feminine, flirty, and fabulous! 7.  What is your favourite appetizer to serve guests?

Tough call - I think my favourite is probably garlic bread (because I love the stuff) or a beautiful salad. To be honest, I'm more of a dessert girl! 8. If you could have a dream vacation, where would it be?

For me there are two dream vacations:

1. Returning to Leon, Spain.

When I was in grade 10 I had the pleasure of living in Spain for almost 4 months as part of a cultural and language exchange program. I fell in love with Spain...the people, the architecture, the language, the food, and the culture were just amazing! It was one of the best times of my life.

Now as an adult, I want to return to visit my friends, exchange family, and favourite places from me memories. I want to show my daughter the great cathedral, the stone wall around the old city, the many beautiful churches and chapels, where I lived, where I went to school, my favourite hangouts and more. I want to share the love of Spain I developed with her and my other half Ross.

2. The variety in Hawaii.

I was very blessed when I was younger to travel to Hawaii with my family for a convention for my dad's trade association. I had an amazing time! Some of the most memorable moments for me included watching an active volcano erupt, walking over an old lava flow and seeing how suddenly it overtook the village that once stood there (walking over bumps that were once cars and seeing road signs still sticking out), and hiking through the rain forest. I don't think any other place I have visited showed me such diversity in nature, culture, and animals as the Hawaiian Islands did. 9. Where did you go on your honeymoon?

No Married so no honeymoon yet! 10. Do you believe in paying it forward?

I do! Paying it forward and giving back are important. I want to put out as much good energy out in the world...if it helps even one person, then it's all worth it! 11. What was your first ever blogpost about?

Sadly it was about starting my blog!

1. Why did you start your blog?

2. Where do you look for inspiration?
