Awaiting A Miracle - Maternity Portraits with Jenn & Joe Neely

I still remember both my excitement and, admittedly, confusion when Jenn reached out to me for advice on a picture. Jenn has helped me with so many things in the many years I've had the pleasure of knowing her, but now it was my turn to help.

Then the photo came through....hmmm. Umm, Jenn, What do you need help with I don't understand the image you sent.

Then she asked the telling question "What is it a picture of?

Me "Umm it looks like a bun or bread or something in the oven...

Yes I am that blonde!

I was thrilled to hear that Jenn & Joe were expecting and launched into the typical questions (when are you due? are you excited? are you hoping for a boy or girl? etc)

Now I have a chance to share the beauty of my amazing big sister, her growing belly (a baby girl affectionately known as pumpkin), and the love between Jenn and her Husband Joe.

Check out this video of a few of my favourite shots from an fun morning spent together celebrating this new stage in their lives with maternity portraits.

Sneak Peek - Beautiful Newborn Lucy

Name: Lucy Gravelle Born: June 20th 2013 - 4:01am (5 weeks early)

Weight: 5lbs11oz

There's something special about being chosen to photography any family and their special moments. Laura and her beautiful family were no exception. I had the pleasure of welcoming them into my studio for mom and munchkins portraits for mothers day 2012. I spent a beautiful afternoon meeting and playing with the extended family in the park. And now, I had the honour of photographing the newest addition to the family.

Beautiful little Lucy spent 18 days in Hospital after her birth on June 20th (5 weeks early) before she could join her 3 big brothers at home. They visited her frequently and there's no doubt that Lucy felt the love of her whole family as she got stronger and grew bigger.

Now growing strong and healthy home with her loving family, Lucy is tipping the scales at around 8lbs and 19inches long.

I'm thrilled to have her in studio for a beautiful newborn session.

Here's just one of my favourite images...

Family Portraits with Jeff, Heidi and the girls!

Family is important to many of the people I have the privileged of photographing and the same is true of today's featured family.

Heidi & Jeff have 3 daughters Hunter, Abby, & Olivia. This family shares many things but primarily a love of the outdoors and the game of soccer.

I spent a great evening out in Kawanis Park here in London, Ontario getting to know them all better, seeing their personalities shine through, and watching them enjoy some time kicking the ball around as the sun faded from the sky.

As in any family, there's always one or more people that have a little trouble keeping a real smile going for a shoot. My solution? Laughter...The more they laugh, the more they relax and the genuine smiles shine through.

And as always, the kids must play! No matter the style of portrait, no matter the location, there must always be an element of fun!

Contemporary Elegance Portraits with Shanel

This past weekend I had the fabulous experience of getting the beautiful and energizing Shanel of From the Heart and Soul in front of my lens for a day of beauty, elegance, glamour, and a few good laughs along the way. From the moment she walked in through hair, makeup, and clothing changes this woman just radiates confidence, poise, and the very definition of contemporary elegance through the portrait artwork creation session. I'm thrilled to share with you today just a few of the many sides to Shanel in art with her portraits!

Sneak Peek: Contemporary Elegance Portraits - Gloria

If you're a regular on this blog you've seen her before.

The beautiful Gloria is back in front of the camera testing out the Contemporary Elegance Portrait experience!

Now I must admit, when Gloria came I even said to her something about how great her hair and makeup were. Then she filled me in that she hadn't done hair or makeup yet as I had suggested. First thought....Seriously? She's this gorgeous without hair or makeup?

Second, this is way too much fun!  Just take a look...

Do You Showcase Your Artwork With Style?

There's no question that I'm passionate about Photography. This is what I do! This is what I love! This is how I celebrate life! Does this sound familiar? You pick out a photographer, you both spend a great deal of time and energy getting the experience just right, and you chose to invest in the artwork you've created together. Then, you take these beautiful pieces of personal photographic art home and it sits in the packaging it came in while you figure out what to do with it.

Here's my solution for you - Custom Framing!

I absolutely love the personality of these beautiful handmade Canadian frames.

The next time you are celebrating with beautiful photographic art here's what I want to do for you

1) Come into your home (in person or virtually) & help you choose a location to showcase your new artwork

2) Design a wall display that fits your decor & style

3) Help you selecting the most complimentary wardrobe for everyone involved

4) Then, and only then, bring you in studio (or on location) and shoot to fill those frames with the perfect artwork for you and your home

Which of these frames do you love most and where would you put it?

Yours Enthusiastically Rebecca - Rebecca Nash Photography

Sneak Peek: Studio Portrait Shoot with Ashlynne

This past weekend I had the great pleasure of getting the beautiful Ashlynne Gates, upcoming model, in front of my lens for a portrait shoot. For this shoot we opted for some great tunes, classic hair and makeup, a simple backdrop and great outfits. It was the first time Ashlynne and I had met but it didn't take long before we were singing along together as we worked through the session.

It was a fantastic day, resulting in some gorgeous images, and I can't wait to work with Ashlynne again!

London Model Ashlynne Gates In Rebecca Nash Photography's London Portrait Studio

Shortly after sharing the images with Ashlynne I received this feedback from her:

"My experience with Rebecca Nash was very positive. Her studio space is tidy and family friendly, which put me at ease before we even started shooting. As for professional equipment, she has it all! Rebecca had what we needed to make my portraits look 3D, instead of flat! I really appreciated the in-shoot feedback, and excellent pointers on poses and arm positions. I'm convinced that she could make just about anyone look completely fabulous in her studio! I received the edited photos from our shoot quickly, and conveniently which is perfect because I'm not tech savvy at all. All in all, Rebecca is a professional to the core and I can't wait to shoot with her again!"

Now it's your turn...check out the images below and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Sneak Peek: Family Fun Portraits with Heather, Mike and Brandon

I'm always thrilled to have a munchkin in the studio, but the challenge of working with a friend, wedding vendor, and his camera shy wife always peaks my interest! We had a blast playing in the studio, changing outfits, arguing over hockey teams (go leafs go!), and enjoying Brandon's smiles. Thanks to Heather, Mike from Two Men and a Tent, and their son Brandon for joining me in the studio for a fun filled evening of portraits, and a great time enjoying the images together. I look forward to getting more great shots as Brandon grows!

Newborn Portrait Session with Jim, Michelle, and the adorable Madyson

I must say, one of the biggest highlights of my job is definitely when I get to work with expectant mothers and their newborn. Early in June of this year I had the opportunity to work with a fantastic couple who are practically family! I was honoured to have the opportunity to photograph Jim & Michelle's wedding back in September of 2010 (One of my first wedding gigs), and now they've come to me again to photograph the maternity sessions and newborn portraits.

As a mom, and a photographer I think this is one of the most beautiful times in any family's life so it is my pleasure to share a few of my favorite photos from the maternity sessions (3, 6, and 9 months) and the newborn session (4 days old).

Enjoy!

Spring is here - does your business image need a makeover?

Spring is definitely here - you can see it on the calendar, hear it outside the window, and feel it when you step outside. With spring comes renewed energy and often a desire to start cleaning. Before you start cleaning out the cupboards and weeding the garden take a moment to consider your business image. Does the photo on your business cards, website, and social media really show who you are? Or do you still have the same photo from 5 years (and three hairstyles) ago out there for the world to see?

Join me on Thursday May 30th at the newly renovated Carolinian Winery & Eatery just east of London on Dundas St for a one day special event!
