Products - Choosing Your Wedding Photographer (Part 2)

Welcome back for Part 2 of 4 in our Choosing Your Wedding Photographer Series.

Yesterday we talked about the wedding photographer's portfolio, today let's talk about what your photographer will create for you with those photos - Digital & Printed Products! We all know we need to look at the pictures but, what do you want to do with them? Will they be gifts? Will they hang on your walls? Will they be laid out in a beautiful album that you will cherish for years to come?

Take a read below for a few things to consider and join me tonight at 4:30pm on live video to learn more about some of my favourite products and have your product questions answered!

Many photographers include both digital and physical products in their wedding day packages.

This is a huge advantage for a couple because you now have someone you know and trust who is able to offer you products that will best fit your style and your images.

You may not think this is important with the rise of so many companies where you can order your own photographic products, but, on this occasion, I would say please, please, please work with a professional!

Not only can a professional offer you higher quality products (in their printing, materials, and durability) but they can also save you one of your most precious resources, time.

A professional photographer will be able to offer you advice to help you find the best products, images and sizes to meet your needs in less time because they have samples you can see and touch but also, they have experience helping couples like you find the right artwork for their home and lifestyle.

There is a second way a professional photographer can save you time. Picture this, it’s a few weeks (to a few months ‐ depending on your photographers turn around time) after your wedding. You visit your photographer to pick up your images or download them from an online gallery. You post some on facebook, share some to friends and family, and plan to get an album and some prints done soon. It’s going to be awesome! Then your images sit in a drawer or on a hard drive for months, years, or forever as the wedding euphoria wears off a little and the everyday hustle of life comes rushing back in.

Please, don’t let your memories grow up to be jpegs! Don’t risk those images being lost or forgotten. Create an album that can tell the story of your day not just for you but for your friends and family for years to come. Hang your artwork on the wall where you can see it every day and remember the joy and excitement of the day you said I do. This is one investment you won’t regret!

This is just part of why products matter when choosing your photographer. Ask to see the items included in packages or that you are considering purchasing. Look at them, touch them, and be sure you are happy with the quality of the products.

Also, take a moment to picture them in your home (even better ‐ take some photos of spaces where you might put them and bring them with you) ‐ can you picture these canvases in your home showcasing images of your wedding day?

Will that album be something you are proud to display and share with friends and family members?
