Engagement Portraits with the soon to be Dunn’s - Emily & Josh

Emily & Josh got engaged on a bench in Ivey Park overlooking the fountain at the Forks of the Thames here in London, Ontario. It was the perfect place to photograph their engagement portraits as we wandered the park, down to Harris Park and even up to the Old Courthouse. I can't wait for their October 2020 Museum London Wedding Day!

Wedding Style Inspiration for the Fall Bride

Wedding Style Inspiration for the Fall Bride

This fall I had the absolutely honour and pleasure of working with some very talented London Wedding Professionals to bring to life a beautiful fall themed bridal session.

Some of my favourite parts - the pop of colour in the flowers, the beautiful simplicity of the cake, and the way mixed metal tones added a little bit of shine to all the details.

This weekend was one of our crazy busiest weekends of the year as we spent the weekend meeting amazing brides, catching up with awesome wedding vendors, and just generally having an awesome time at the London Bridal Expo.

Thank you to all the brides, grooms, moms, bridesmaids, friends, and wedding professionals who stopped by to say hello. Congrats to Angela B who won a portrait session and 16"x24" Gallery Wrap! 2018 is looking like an amazing year of working with couples who overflow with love as they celebrate their weddings, helping business babes rock their personal brand, and celebrating with women who are ready to see themselves differently while sharing their stories of beauty and strength in the Beauty Is Project.

Sneak Peek: Geraldina & Mike's Fall Wedding

Tell us How you first met? Who What when where why? Give us the dirty details.

Geraldina: Funny enough, we met January 2, 2015, on the Plenty of Fish website. We decided to go for appetizers and a drink at the Oar House in London. It was snowing and the roads were very slippery. Our waitress continued to get our drinks wrong; so we cut our losses and left. We ended up spending the evening at Mike's house. Because we didn't have anything to eat at the bar, Mike prepared a few finger foods. What endeared him to me that night was when I took a bit out of my piece of Kielbasa and put the rest on my plate. He assumed I didn't want it and ate it!!! We continue to have laughs over that. The first thing I noticed about Mike at the bar were his eyes; bright, expressive and beautiful.

Mike: The first night I met Geraldina she looked like she was glowing orange, and she was absolutely beautiful! The waitress kept giving us the wrong drinks so we went to my place and we had a snack, where the infamous keilbasa incident took place. Geraldina was very warm, kind, and funny, and her eyes were sparkling and beautiful! We instantly connected and that connection has been getting deeper and stronger ever since.

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Mike: It became clear to me that Geraldina was the one after about a year of being together. I decided to wait until approximately the two year mark to propose to her, because I've always had the idea that two years was the right time. The reason I knew Geraldina was the one is that she did many very caring things for me. For example, one morning I came home from the gym and she had made me two great big bacon, lettuce, tomato, and egg sandwiches on bagels for breakfast, yummy and what a treat! Geraldina has done so many nice and thoughtful things for me over our time together that I've lost track of a lot of it, but it's been a lot, and every day she does something really nice for me. Geraldina spoils me rotten and I don't know what I did to deserve a woman as amazing as her!

Geraldina : I knew Mike was the one pretty much early on. He was always kind and gentle and protective of me. The one thing I hesitated about was our age difference. But over time, I realized we had a lot in common eand our personalities meshed in a good way. We make each other laugh. I was going through a difficult time career-wise at that point and Mike was there to support me and encourage me. And I couldn't have asked for a better man for that.

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Mike: That's a tough one because I love so many things about Geraldina. She's funny, smart, beautiful, a hard worker, sexy. If I had to pick just one thing that I love about Geraldina it's that she always supports me and makes me feel strong again when I'm feeling weak. She has kept me together mentally during some challenging times. She is very sweet and supportive in so many ways.

Geraldina : I don't know where to begin. There are so many things I love about Mike. He is kind, gentle, funny, supportive, extremely intelligent and a great sounding board. We work well together around the house doing tasks even though I'm a bit of a type A personality. He is understanding and non-judgemental. And he eats all the food I make him; except mashed banana pancakes.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Mike: Silly and quirky about Geraldina is she always throws garbage into the kitchen sink! I don't get it, because the garbage pail is right there and if the garbage went into the garbage pail it would only have to be handled one time instead of twice. It's ok, I love her with all my heart :-)

Geraldina : Mike has a few quirks I'd love to share. First of all he goes by the puesdo nom Louie Grenouille when a telemarketer calls or with people he doesn't really want to talk to. He also has a story about someone called Moonette and I won't get into the details because it's very very very long. Plus, he always wants to wear the same t-shirt and shorts. He tried to get away with out at the wedding but I didn't let him. The last thing he does is every time he or I park the car in the driveway he always make sure that it is evenly centered in the driveway. Yep, I love him anyway!

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planing?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Mike: I began thinking about proposing to Geraldina about one year before I did it. In November 2016 I asked permission from Adolfo and Maria Meriano. They said I could marry their daughter as long as she wants to. Leslie helped me pick out a ring for Geraldina, but it wasn't hard, her ring jumped right out at me and I knew it was the right one for her. On December 20, 2016 Geraldina and I decided to open our Christmas gifts to each other a few days early. I put the box containing the ring into a bigger box and wrapped them both. She said she thought it was a "fitbit" but when she got to the smaller box she thought it was diamond earrings. She cried when she opened the box and saw what it was. Geraldina is so sweet. I was filming the proposal on the ipad and she didn't suspect why I was doing that haha! I felt nervous in proposing to Geraldina because when she opened the box she looked down at the ring, began to cry and looked back up at me. I didn't know if that meant she was going to say no. I figured, just keep going forward with the plan and see what happens. She said yes, making me the luckiest guy on the planet!

Geraldina : I'm usually a perceptive person and can catch on to things quickly. But I had no idea he was going to propose to me even with all the clues he gave. First of all he wanted to video tape me opening the gift and I didn't even think about it. Secondly, he usually gives me a pretty inappropriate card for the holidays and last year he gave me this beautiful Christmas card about love being together as a couple. And he's right I thought it was a Fitbit or diamond earrings. I was totally caught off guard. But it was a beautiful moment!

Besides getting married - what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

I believe for both of us it was actually having the ceremony and declaring our union to one another. As well, spending the day with our family and friends. It was truly a memorable day!

What inspired your décor or theme?

We chose to incorporate some of our favorite things. Because Mike is a chemist for our flower arrangements we used all types of beakers. For the table numbers and seating we use pictures of Simon our cat with numbers beside him. He did not enjoy the experience! We used Gerber Daisies for the arrangements as they are my favorite flower. As well, on our desserts we had the chef at the golf course make the capital K for our last name. As well, for our reunion dance we chose C is for cookie from Sesame Street as it is one of Mike's favorite songs. I had the musicians at the church sing Can't Stop Loving You by Van Halen as that is Mike's favorite band.
